The founder, Yakshi Malhotra, is passionate about educating creative talent around the world. With an extensive background across multiple roles in the knitwear industry, she began sharing her knowledge simply out of passion and joy. What started as open, honest teaching naturally grew into a community of students eager to learn, develop their technical confidence, and strengthen their creative projects.
The Knit Academy grew from this journey. It was created to make learning resources accessible to students at all levels, supporting them in developing their skills and creative direction.
Working with fashion houses such as McQ by Alexander McQueen and DKNY, freelancing for swatch studios, overseeing sampling at a manufacturer, collaborating with small brands, and teaching at universities have all shaped the journey to this Academy. It’s a space built so students can gain insight into every aspect of knitwear and feel more prepared for their own path into the industry.
